How a spreadsheet of 300 businesses became a public community development platform.
The Challenge
Keokuk County had a 300-business directory living in a spreadsheet. It had no public visibility and no way for new businesses to discover the county or for existing businesses to be discovered. The data was valuable, but locked away where no one could use it.
What We Did
- Built a scalable platform on WordPress that turned the spreadsheet into a public, searchable directory.
- Designed the architecture to grow as new businesses join the county, so the platform never outgrows itself.
- Built filtering, search, and category navigation that scales cleanly from hundreds to thousands of listings.
The Result
A 300-plus business directory with room to grow, a community development platform that gives every member business a path to visibility and gives the county a real tool for economic growth.
